Ras Abu Galum is a remote, off-the-beaten-path, protected area accessible only by boat or camel. It offers divers something increasingly rare and far from concrete jungles that many are used to – raw, untouched beauty, both above and below the surface. The area is a protected area situated just north of Dahab. Like Gabr El Bint in the south, Ras Abu Galum is difficult to reach by car, so we offer special dive trips to this area by boat or, for the more adventurous, by camel.

So, what's a dive trip to Ras Abu Galum like?

The Adventure Begins Before the Dive

The dive trip begins from Dahab by speedboat across the Red Sea waters. Or camel ride across the desert path. Either way, the journey is half the experience! 

We handle all the logistics for you (including permits, dive gear, transport, and food). We’ll make the plan, you make the memories.

To reach Ras Abu Galum by camel we leave Dahab early in the morning and begin our day by travelling by car to the Blue Hole.  Then, we ride the camels for an hour and a half along a narrow seaside path, with the clear turquoise sea on our right and stunning mountains of Sinai on our left.

Once arriving at Ras Abu Galum, which is simply a waterside Bedouin Villiage, we take some time to rest, explore and enjoy a cup of tea. Because of our early start we generally have time for at least two and sometimes three dives and with these dive sites being among some of the most beautiful places of the Red Sea and Egypt you may want to do even more. After diving we enjoy a locally prepared meal. There is some time to relax before we go back, with the camels to the Blue Hole.

Ras Abu Galum promises lively marine life and vibrant coral formations. Expect thriving coral gardens, dramatic reef walls, and a circus of marine life. Including parrotfish and stingrays, to barracuda and turtles. Thanks to its protected status and difficult access, the underwater environment here remains almost untouched by humanity and full of life.
